As per my view Thangappuwa is the most beautiful village rather than Meemure. Because this innocent village still under traditional and village life style. There are several houses and about 3 retail shops and a school too. This environment is still fresh and clear. There were 2 streams flows through the village.
Their main job is tea, farming and guiding tourists. People are very generous and kind hearted. The closest mountain to this village is Kobonilagala. Apart from it village is close to Aliyawetunuela and Thangappuwa Kanda both are above 1600m.
We visited Thangappuwa for several times and last year we went there for three times. For Kobonilagala, Aliyawetunuela and Dumbanagala hikes. Perdel fall is a small fall situated near to the village and it can see on the way to Liyanagahapala to Thangappuwa foot path.
It’s about 6km from Thangappuwa to Corbet’s Gap via a road which is currently like abundant. Only 4X4, Safari jeeps, Motor Bicycles, Three Wheels, Lorries and Cycles can go from this road. If someone coming to Meemure from Kandy, this is the closest path to Meemure via Thangappuwa. Due to the road difficulty no one use this path except for cycling. On rainy days or soon after a rainy season whole the road will looks like a stream.
As we experiences on January the road was bit dried. But in November when we walk Thngappuwa to Corbet Gap the entire road was totally wet. There were plenty of streams and mini falls along the road. It’s a beautiful experience to have in Knuckels reserve.
This road is the source to Aliyawetunuela, Kobonilagala and Sphnix I hikes. Further a hotel will be opened soon near to Corbet Gap.
Thanks for reading!
