We had our final trip of the year 2017 to the Knuckles forest as we did more than 15 tours in Knuckles during the year 2017. Hence finally we have chosen the easiest destinations in Knuckles and in the evening we planned to spent with Rathna Ella and Kaluwa Watunu Ella.
Dothalugala is a famous destination in Knuckles as the legal campsite also located over there. We went through the Dothalugala nature trail and few of us were going out of the trail for a few minutes to reach the summit of Dothalugala mountain which is height about 1574m. After we complete our trail we headed to Rathna falls and later on we explored Kaluwa Watunu Falls in the latter part of the evening.

Ratna Ella (Navarathna Ella) Fall – රත්න ඇල්ල (නවරත්න ඇල්ල)
The 101m Ratna Ella (Navarathna Ella) fall is the highest in the Kandy region and the stream that serves it irrigates the paddy fields of the surrounding villages.
Superstitious villagers say that there were seven vessels filled with precious stones hidden close to the fall, but that five have now been found. However, anyone attempting to find the final two will meet an untimely death at the bottom of the fall.
From Hasaka go to “Ratna Ella wasama” village. From this village there is a pathway along a small stream. after about 3km you will come across a bunt which is built across the Hasalaka Oya. There is a another footpath (just before the bunt on the right hand side) from here to the Ratna Ella.
There is another 30m waterfall in the vicinity called Kaluwa Wetuna Ella. This waterfall too can be reached on the same foot path.
