I remember that I heard about these waterfalls on our visit to Rotupihilla Cave complex. Chandare mama told us about these falls but at that time we couldn’t have enough time to go and visit them as we had to go to Nuwaraeliya before the night. However I got to saw a beautiful photos about this fall from a blog and then I planned a one day visit to them.
We started our journey from Colombo and reached to Peradeniya and turned to Galaha road as the road is much beautiful rather than Ragala road. We reached to Delthota we saw Loolcandura which was explored few years ago. And we came to Poramadulla junction and followed the route mentioned in Amazing lanka website.
“To reach the waterfall, take the Galaha Road for 1.2 km and from the Poramadulla junction take th Poramadulla – Palle Bowala Road. After travelling about 4.5 kilometers you will reach Diggalpoththa 3 way junction. Take the Hinnapita road to the left for further 500 meters on and you will reach a place locally known as Valle Bodhiya where you will find a footpath towards the Mandawala Ella. 200 meters on this footpath will take you to the bottom of this waterfall.” Source – Amazing Lanka
These are little bit hidden waterfalls from the public but the villagers are usually visit the fall to have some bath. Mandawala fall is the main fall which was having small cascades and mini falls on the way.The location and the way of falling the water is amazing but unfortunately we came on a dry season hence we couldn’t see much beauty of it. Iranella is another small fall situated close to the stream. We spent few hours and explored much about the area and we were able to go to the top of the Mandawala. We must be careful about walk along the stream when in rainy season and where the falls are fully in water. However we also had a bath and left via the same route to Peradeniya.
